I believe there is some kind of language manipulation at work here. The runes I mentioned in the first post look very similar to the letters of an alphabet from my world, but it took me an unusually long time to realize that. Something may be encouraging us to read in the 'Pokémon World language', which is why I found it so hard to identify anything else.
